More reliable syncing method
Summary: The existing syncing method isn't reliable and configurations get lost. This idea is for an alternative method that would store your data on iChrome servers instead of Google's system.
This idea is intended to help gather feedback on the move to iChrome servers.
The system would work based off of an automatically generated ID synced using Google's existing system. The ID would essentially be a password since it would be used to read and write your configuration and synced data.
I've also been considering the possibility of identifying users based on the accounts they're signed into in Chrome. This would make things very hassle-free since everything would "magically" sync on all your computers, even if they aren't signed into the same Google account, but a malicious user could start sending user names/ids/email addresses to the server to get sync IDs. Depending on how much of an issue that would be (someone would have to go after you specifically) I might not do this.
A slight variation of that method could be to store the sync ID in the accounts themselves somehow, since it would be a short string it would take a negligible amount of space. This would make it as secure as whichever service is used.
This method would mean that you don't have to sign in with your Google account if you want iChrome to sync and everything can be handled silently in the background. You could also enter your ID into new computers and have them link up with others in the group.
I’ve finished building the new system, it will be included in the next release.

@Lesa, The new version should be out in a week or two (I'm building it right now). In the meantime, please check your settings under chrome://settings/syncSetup and make sure it's set to sync extensions.

iChrome isn't syncing between my Chrome desktop browser and my Chromebook Chrome browser. I can't use this as my start page if it doesn't sync. I don't know why it's not syncing but it's vital that it does reliably.
